What TradingView Bar Replay does well
Bar Replay is built into TradingView charts and works on almost any symbol. Its Replay trading mode lets you open positions with market, limit, stop and stop-limit orders, and since November 2023 you can attach take-profit and stop-loss brackets. If you just want to rewind a chart and eyeball a setup, it is hard to beat.
Where it falls short as a backtesting routine
- Replay trades aren’t kept. TradingView’s help center says data on replay trades and the overall result is available only in the session itself and is not saved anywhere. Last week’s fifty practice trades can’t be pulled back up and compared with this week’s.
- One-minute depth depends on your plan. Per TradingView’s help center, Essential can replay 6 months of one-minute data and Plus one year; going further back needs Premium or higher.
- There is no review layer. No equity curve, no trade calendar, no MAE/MFE per trade, no list of the orders you placed and then cancelled.
How Charts Replay compares

|---|---|---|
| Markets | Almost every symbol on TradingView | ES and NQ futures only |
| Order types | Market, limit, stop, stop-limit, TP/SL brackets | Market, limit, stop, stop-limit, brackets |

| ES one-minute history | Essential 6 months, Plus 1 year, Premium and up: full depth | 2016 → 2026 on every plan |
| Review report | Not included | Equity curve, trade calendar, trade-by-trade with MAE/MFE, order-by-order |
| Scored practice | Not included | Daily challenge scored in R, with a leaderboard |
| Price | Included with TradingView; intraday depth varies by plan | 7 days free, then $2.99/month (limited-time price, normally $4.99) or $29.90/year |
Fills that respect the one-minute tape
- Every one-minute bar is matched before it is drawn, whatever timeframe is on screen — an order placed on a 4-hour chart fills in the minute price actually reached it.
- Limits fill when price reaches them; stops fill when price crosses them.
- Gaps are priced against the bar’s open: a buy limit gapped through fills at the better open, a stop gapped through fills at the worse open plus slippage.
- When several orders trigger in the same bar, stops match before limits.
Every decision stays on file
Each order records the bar it was placed on, the market price at that moment, the bar that filled it or the bar you cancelled it on. Orders that never filled are kept too — what you cancelled often says more about your thinking than what you took. Close the browser, switch machines, sign in again: the session, its account and its drawings are where you left them.
Still TradingView charts
Charts Replay is built on TradingView’s charting library, so the drawing tools, timeframes and layouts feel familiar. Built-in PA and ICT indicator packs add EMAs, New York session boxes, fair value gaps, liquidity levels and prior day and week highs and lows. The market data is our own, not TradingView’s.
When TradingView Bar Replay is the better choice
- You trade stocks, forex or crypto — Charts Replay only covers ES and NQ.
- You only need a quick visual rewind, not a log of trades to review.
- You need tick or seconds-level data — Charts Replay matches on one-minute bars.
Try it on the setup you already trade
Pick ES or NQ, choose a starting minute anywhere in the history, and replay at 2× to 60× or one bar at a time. New accounts get 7 days of full access with Google or Discord sign-up and no card; after that it’s $2.99/month (limited-time price, normally $4.99) or $29.90/year.
